Started on the first "Quilts of Valor" quilt today :)

So many people send me a large selection of Patriotic fabrics to make quilts for wounded soldiers and veterans. Click here to get more information on the "Quilts of Valor" and how you can participate :)

 

 

 

 

 

Here are the details from my previous post on how you can participate in "Quilts of Valor":

 

Needed: donation for "Quilts of Valor" project

Most of you that follow me on my personal Facebook, know that I am a retired Air Force veteran so "Quilts of Valor" (www.qovf.org) is dear to me.
As an textile and fiber artist, I like to contribute on a regular base, a handmade quilt to this Foundation that will be given to our wounded veterans.

To make this happen, I need your help. I will donate my time to design and make the quilts and I am asking you to consider donating: 100% cotton fabric in solid red, solid white, solid blue and patriotic print fabrics and help me with the supplies needed to make quilts to donate.
My husband will donate the money to ship the quilts to and from the long arm quilter and to the Foundation, where they will be given to our wounded veterans :)
How can you help?

• I set up a "wish list" on Amazon so you can see what I need and select what you like to donate. Link to Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/registry/giftlist/3ADF83YFQKMUF Amazon has my address on file.
• If you like to donate money to buy fabrics/supplies, please use this link: http://www.gofundme.com/quiltsofvalor

• If you have 100% cotton fabrics scraps (min size 1.5"x1.5") in any color/print and would like to donate for this and other causes, please contact me for the shipping address by sending an email to: bubblesyeah2007@yahoo.com.

All donations will be appreciated and will ONLY be used to make the quilts!

Custom order: Vintage Flower Quilt

Today I finished the Vintage Flower Quilt top so tomorrow I am planning to get the backing ready :D

First quilt design for "Quilts of Valor"

With help from Ryan, who drew me a sketch for the "Quilts of Valor", I was able to translate his sketch into a quilt design as you can see in the photo below.

Update on the custom ordered quilts and new designs

This week I have been playing around with new quilt designs and I tested out a star pattern:

 Worked for a little bit to put borders on the vintage flower quilt top which was ordered by one of my customers as a gift for a family member:

Still have to miter the borders, iron and find a backing fabric for this adorable quilt :)

I love the pretty fabrics used in this throw size quilt.

Meet Moose, my dog in Vietnam, show here with your Quilt of Valor. Now that the weather has gotten cooler here in California I am using the quilt on my bed and I must say it is an honor to sleep under it. I have never slept so well. It has been a real healing for me. Thank you and the girls who make this wonderful gift. It truly brightens up my life.
